AUTHENTIC VINTAGE CHALET AT THE FOOT OF THE GALIBIER
The hamlet of Bonnenuit, with direct views of the mountains and snowfields,
at an elevation of 1,700 meters, upstream from the Valloire Valley, toward the Galibier.
Originally a small outbuilding (called the “Grenier”) belonging to a farm dating back to 1874—which no longer exists—this chalet was expanded in 2008 and again in 2026 so that we could live here year-round. Since then, we’ve been renting out the older part of the chalet when it isn’t occupied by family or friends. The door connecting the older part—which we rent out—to the newer part—where we live—is very well insulated and locked.
It is surrounded by peaks over 3,000 meters high. Breathtaking views of the Aiguille d’Argentière (3,237 meters) and the Galibier (3,229 meters) from the garden. The property opens onto snowfields and features a barbecue (in summer) and an outdoor table.
Located in the quiet hamlet of Bonnenuit, near the Bonnenuit altisurface, set back from the Route du Galibier.
Starting point for hikes toward the Aiguilles d’Arves massif.
Close to cross-country ski trails and 2.5 km from the Verneys chairlift for access to the ski area.
A starting point for snowshoe hikes.
A mountain stream (La Valloirette) and a larch forest are 400 meters away.
A truly mountainous setting: spot chamois and deer right from your window, as well as the golden eagle that nests on the cliff across the way, and sometimes even bearded vultures that make their home in the valley.
In the summer, a family of marmots lives in the scree 30 meters away, right across from the chalet.
5 km from Valloire, and 2.5 km from shops and the Verneys chairlift. 250 m from the hamlet of Bonnenuit. However, a car is essential for grocery shopping or getting to the ski lifts.
In winter: the road is constantly maintained by snowplows.
Simple yet effective amenities: TV, Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washing machine, and a pellet stove.
This old, cozy stone chalet offers a warm, “mountain lodge”-style atmosphere, with wooden ceilings, walls, and floors throughout.
Please note that occupancy is strictly limited to a maximum of 6–7 people.
The listed price does not include the tourist tax collected by the town of Valloire, which must be paid separately upon your arrival.
On the ground floor: Fully equipped kitchen open to the living area with a fireplace, table, and sitting area with TV.
Bathroom with shower, sink, towel warmer, and toilet.
First floor: 1 bedroom with a double bed (140) and a loft with two single beds (80).
On the second floor: two bedrooms, each with a double bed (160 and 140)
Boiler room/ski storage room.
