Advice for holidaymakers
Before you get in touch
- Check the real capacity (comfortable beds, not just the maximum).
- Look at the exact location: distance to the pistes, the beach, the centre.
- Note any charges and extras mentioned on the listing (linen, cleaning, tourist tax).
When talking with the owner
- Ask your questions in writing: the exchange is your record if a disagreement arises.
- Ask for a rental contract: it is standard practice, and it protects you both.
- Clarify the deposit, the balance, the security deposit and the cancellation terms before paying anything.
Payment good practice
- Prefer a bank transfer to an account in the owner's name as stated in the contract.
- Refuse any payment by voucher, top-up card or cash-transfer service: these are fraudsters' favourite channels.
- Beware of an abnormally low price, or an owner in a hurry who refuses a contract.
