** The chalet, rated 2**, is in Praloup 1500 at 1550m altitude in Ubaye, at the gateway to the Mercantour National Park. It's just a stone's throw from the hiking trails and 400 m from the ski lifts. The center of Praloup resort is 2 km away, with free shuttles in winter. The view of the Ubaye valley and mountains is exceptional. The village is classified as a 2* star village, and nights are splendid. This is a family chalet designed for the pleasure of being together, with the highest levels of comfort in a magnificent setting. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, two large sunny balconies, a lawn and a large outdoor wooden terrace on an 800m2 plot. Three private parking spaces are just 10 meters from the door.
You can go window-shopping in the center of the resort and, 8 km away, in the pleasant little town of Barcelonnette. There's a market on Saturday and Wednesday mornings and 3 supermarkets: Lidl, Casino and Carrefour.
A free bus serves the whole resort. In winter, if there's a bit of snow, the average skier can set off on skis from the chalet. The "Espace Lumière" ski area, which includes Praloup and La Foux-d'Allos, between 1608 and 2676 meters, has 180km of pistes and 36 lifts. For non-skiers, the gondolas take you up to 2000m to the slopes for a stroll or a ski-bar.

** As well as walks in the Mercantour National Park (all levels, from 1h to a week), you can go cycling (France's highest mountain pass for the brave) and mountain biking (in summer, the lifts take you and your bikes up to the downhill slopes). There's also a 9-hole golf course, rafting and white-water sports, accrobranche, climbing in equipped areas, horse-riding, paragliding, gliding, flying ... impossible to get bored. From jazz festivals to the mountain bike world cup, to Mexican festivities, there's always something going on in "La vallée".
